Linux 3D environments

There are two 3D environments that I know of, the first one is Project Looking Glass by Sun microsystems. The second is Xgl by the X11 development team.

I have used project looking glass on a Live CD, Xgl is still in major development and I haven't had the time to configure my Gentoo box to use it.

kinda cool. Neat feature but seems a little pointless. The solaris 1 wasn't bad at all. I am impressed with it. Don't really know why you would want to read something at an angle? I loved the cd changer app though.

Xgle was developed to speed up 2d drawing on X windows. In Xgl the 2d drawing is done by you're card and not by the CPU in the end the GUI runs faster.
