Linux Based Firewalls

I just thought I would post a few and see what your guys thoughts were on them

1: Smoothwall

2: CoyoteLinux

3: IpCop

4: ProxMox

5: ClarkConnect

I use smoothwall at home for the most part, Its pretty stable and very simple to setup and install and I have been using CoyoteLinux in a lot of different small business's and its been great as well. What other ones are out there?

Awesome! Thanks! I don't use Linux myself but there are several members here who do!

I used OpenBSD as a hardware firewall with plain pf to manage it. No other devices needed.

if you use a red hat distro, like most, you have a built in one called IPTables, and thats really all you need.

I agree, I have been using linux for over a year now using nothing but IPtables. I have yet to have a single port sniffer, or even attempted hack get through my system.

If you want a little more control over your IPtables you could install firestarter on your linux box. This will give you a little more of a GUI control look to the iptables.

Smile

I'd like to thank my buddy Dragon for the invite to this awesome forum.
I primarily use a router to act as my firewall on my Slackware boxes. That does the job for me.
