What is the best Unix text editor? vi, emacs, or pico?

What do you think?

pico is too short on features for my needs. It's great for the beginner or the occassional Unix user.

Learning vi was not easy initially, but vi saves me an enormous amount of editing time. vi's text processing features and regular expression processing help me to make large changes in documents very efficiently.

The dot operator, which repeats the lack command, would be wonderful to have in Microsoft Word.
