What flavor of Linux?

Okay, so I only have a Windows machine right now, but I'm planning to change that in the near future. I grew up mainly using SuSE and RedHat that I can recall, but I've been, shall we say, led astray for the past few years. So I don't know what's changed, if there's a flavor of Linux that's "the choice". Any suggestions would be great.

Fedora seems to be the flavor du jour.
