Give me a good pot roast in preference to steak tho... Quote: |

Rep Power: 7 | I like mine medium and by that I mean some pink (not red = bloody, ick!) in the middle. My favy is Outback (Porterhouse) on regular days or Ruth's Crist for special occasions.
It's funny you should say pot roast cuz I had that just last night at a place called BJ's here in Dallas. It came in a brown mushroom sauce which was pretty yummy! That mashies left a lil to be desired.

Rep Power: 3 | They usually have pot roast on the buffet's at Ryan's or Sirloin Steakhouse here but you have to be quick because everyone picks out the pieces of meat and leaves the carrots behind!
Yeah, I'm picky about my mashed potatoes.. and my gravy.
Scariest thing I ever ate off a buffet: mystery meat at a Flying J in St. Joe, Mo.. looked like a veal pattie, tasted like pork or chicken. We had to ask the waitress.. it was Rocky Mountain Oysters! First I'd ever 'et 'em... wasn't bad though my girlfriend stopped eating them as soon as she heard!
Best buffet I've ever had: the buffet at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, MS... you would not believe the size of the shrimp there and, ooooooooooooooo, the variety! Plus we always eat free (comped).
Harrah's in Kansas City has a pretty good buffet too!
Can you tell I like buffets? We have all you can eat pizza at CiCi's for $3.99 and a great Chinese buffet in Joplin with 125 items... (I love sushi too)... Ryan's, Golden Corral, Sirloin Steakhouse.. yum! Quote: |

Rep Power: 4 | Rocky Mountain oysters is a name given to a calf or bull testicles. They are usually peeled, coated in flour, pepper and salt, then fried. It is a well-known novelty dish in parts of the American West and the Canadian Prairies where cattle ranching is prevalent. The name is derived from the Rocky Mountains. They are also sometimes known as "Mountain Oysters" or "Prairie Oysters." In Oklahoma, they are sometimes referred to as "Calf Fries," and are called "huevos de toro" (bull's eggs) in Central and South America. Rocky Mountain oysters are sometimes incorrectly associated with Lamb Fries, which are animelles that are served in a manner similar to Rocky Mountain oysters.
The dish is most commonly found served at festivals, such as the ones in Montana, or at certain eating establishments and bars that specialize it. One such establishment, Bruce's Bar in Severance, Colorado, is regionally famous as a location that serves the dish and attracts visitors from all around northern Colorado, despite its location in a small town on the Great Plains. They are also served at the Old Mill in Cedar City, Utah [1] Calf Fries are also on the menu at some old time Oklahoma restuarants such as Cattlemen's Steakhouse, located in Oklahoma City's Stockyard City area.
Consumption of the dish is often meant as a lighthearted test of one's bravado, especially for men, given the inherent implications of castration and the threat of the loss of male virility. This is especially true for consumption by individuals of a group, where failing to consume the dish after a mutual dare is taken as a humorous indication of cowardice. Consumption is often undertaken with copious amounts of beer.
Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Mountain_oysters" bon appetit !!!!

Rep Power: 3 | I'm no chef, but I think mom puts them in a big cooking pot, adds milk, butter and maybe something else that I don't know about and blends it all up. Off course, when you start eatin, you have to put you finger in the middle of them and add alotmore butter and let it melt. YUM!

Rep Power: 7 | Ahh... you family goes the milk route. I've head people add milk, mayo, cream... all sorts of "unusual" stuff. It's unusual to me cuz my dad was from England where they are very particular about their potatos! lol Kinda like how they are with their tea. With Pop is was potatos + butter+ salt and that's it!
The process of actually cooking them was important too! Lord help ya if you put the potatos in before the water was boiling! lol That turns them into mush... gak!

Rep Power: 3 | Gah! This thread is making me hungry! It's made me just add mashed potatoes to the grocery list!
I don't really have a favorite food, I just go through phases of wanting to eat nothing but a particular food. All food is so good! Right now, I'm going through a rice phase. Curry rice, rice and vegetables, rice and refried beans, rice balls...ah, there are so many delicious possibilities. |
