total novice with lots of time

worked at the phone company for 12 yrs. and enjoyed "exploring" their network. have been away from computers for ten yrs. have tons of free time now and looking to learn and explore new worlds. total novice wants to learn. any teachers around? zero tech knowledge. teach me new skills so i can find new places to explore. mindset is 60's hippie type anti-establishment.

With 12 years at the phone company, you probably know a lot of things that I don't know! I have always had an interest in telephony, but I've never really worked in that field. I've done a lot of projects for telephone companies, but they have all involved Unix, OpenView, or security -- never much telephone-related stuff!
