How do I Create my own Ringtones?

How do I Create my own Ringtones?

There are many ways by which you may create new ringtones for your mobile phone. Some of the more popular software that may be used to create ringtones are DJ Tone Express, Mobi Manager and The Ringtone Maker. Alternatively you may create your ringtone using Audacity which is open source software for recording and editing sounds with multiplatform support. You will also need the file lame_enc.dll.
  1. Install Audacity and extract lame_enc.dll
  2. Open Audacity and select your source mp3 using the Open option in the File menu.
  3. Once the file is open listen to the mp3 and note the portion of the waveform which you want to hear as a ringtone. You may do this using the magnifying glass found at upper left of Audacity's workspace which enables greater precision.
  4. Select the part you want to use by dragging your mouse over the section you want. Make sure that the section you select is not too lengthy for a ringtone.
  5. If you would like apply a fade out effect to your ringtone, go to Effect, scroll down to the bottom and select Cross Fade Out. This will automatically fade your music out.
  6. Once you have your selection go to File menu again and select Export as MP3.
  7. Audacity will now ask for lame_enc.dll so navigate to where you extracted the dll file and click OK.
  8. Now transfer the new file to your phone via a data-cable and you've got your MP3 ringtone. In case you do not have a data-cable you may transfer the ringtone by first uploading it on the Internet (on sites such MotoMail.co.uk) and then downloading it using your GPRS connection.

ringtone maker

I have tried the DJ Tone Maker, Xingtones, and Myxer and have found Phone Sherpa to be the best ringtone maker. All I have to do is upload my MP3 and I can pick my own ringtone from the whole song! It is super cheap, and I did not have to sign up for a subscription. www.phonesherpa.com

What does PhoneSherpa charge to convert a ringtone?

I tried to find out, but it won't tell me until I create an account.

RE: pricing

I looked at the site today for you, and there are four price levels, you can use your credit card and buy a one year unlimited use for around $25 or 10 credits for $10. If you want to charge credits to your cell phone bill its $1.99 for one credit and $10 for 8. I bought the 10 with my cc and just refer friends so I can earn free credits, I get two every time someone signs up with my referral code. I hope that answers your question. Oh, and you get a free credit when you create an account, and you don't have any monthly obligation for doing so.
