Microsoft to Develop iPod and iTunes Killer

Microsoft has decided to take on Apple at it's own game. They are going to develop and iPod-like device and a music service for downloading songs. The leader of the project is a former head of the XBox development team.

Sounds interesting. Overall, I hope the competition drives the price down.

Apple iPod is Overpriced

I've never been a fan of the iPod or many of Apple products, although their products are good quality. They have been consistantly overpricing their items ever since the first Mac was released. I believe they have a policy of pricing their computers 30% above what a regular PC costs.

And being forced to use apple's proprietary music format (AAP?) is something I just can't stand. I bought a Lexar mp3 player that uses a flash drive for $35 that works great for me. Plus it's lighter and the 1GB flash drive can be used for computer files as well as music.

I just got an ipod. I don't think M$ is gonna have an easy time making something like it. The iPod will hold files too.

sounds interesting, wonder how many service packs it will need to make it stable, i'll stick to my good old ipod mini, with no problems at all and the easy to use-ness of itunes, rather than having bloated WMP and a MS ipod look-a-like

Apple has such a strong hold on the market that I think it won't be brought down so quick, especially by Microsoft. If I had a dime for everytime I read about some new Ipod killer, I'd be rich.
