I am a Verizon Wireless customer.
Customer support from Verizon Wireless has been unimaginably better than what I experienced with my previous wireless provider.
Coverage has been quite good -- but coverage with all wireless providers is very dependent upon where you live.
Verizon does seem to win more that its share of industry and user awards:
- Carrier of the Year Wireless Week, April 1, 2006
- Cadillac of Wireless Services PC Magazine, February 2, 2006
- Reader's Choice - PC Magazine, November 29, 2004
- Best Overall Carrier - Laptop Magazine, May 2004
- Carrier of the Year Excellence Award - Wireless Week, March 22, 2004
- Best Wireless Product - Wireless Systems Design, February 11, 2004
- Highest Customer Service Quality Rating - RCR Wireless News, January 21,
- 2004
One Verizon policy that annoys a lot of customers is the tendency to remove features from thier phones which would compete with Verizon's "Get It Now" service. On some phones, Verizon makes it very difficult to install ringtones from sources other than Verizon.
That's not an issue with my Verizon Samsung i730, but it could be an issue for you -- depending upon which phone you choose. Make sure to ask your Verizon Wireless sales rep how to upload your own ringtones -- if that is an important feature for you.
Specifically, ask whether the phone supports:
- Locally uploaded MP3 ringtones
- OBEX
- OPP
That might get you some odd looks from the sales droid.
