I like the soft colors and simple design.

I do think it's a lil too crowded or maybe just busy looking. Mostly, I'm not sure where you want me to look. You might consider segmenting it more clearly and some how highlighting where you want your visitors focus.

I read some of the article too. Lot's of good info there!
