Rep Power: 6 | Build your Dream Machine!! If price was no object what type of computer would have? What parts would go into it?? Would you buy something fully loaded or build it yourself?

Rep Power: 3 | Hmmm let's see here:
I would have an AMD Athlon X2 4400 dual core pc with an ASUS motherboard and about 4 gigs of ram. 5 15k U360 500gb SCSI HD's set up in RAID 0. An Nvidia video card with a dell lcd 26" flat screen(don't need any bigger than that) and running Linux. Also add some ultra quiet cooling fans and a PVR-500 TV tuner card. I will total it up tomorrow when I get the chance. It's not cheap though and I was holding back .

Rep Power: 3 | scsi shere is a reason that you might would go with sata and ide over scsi. and that is mabe your motherboard does not support scsi. for instance the DFI lanparty. a sick board, but no scsi. plus its is not all in the speed of the Hdd. a good part is in the buffer, you can get Hdd's with 16 meg buffers now. plus with chosing the right mother board, let you overclock and then the possibilities are endless |

Rep Power: 3 | 16 mb buffers are great now. But if you can have a dream machine, why not go with a scsi and a motherboard that supports it. Price isn't an issue, go all out. I'm still way too lazy to add all of mine up. Need to get on that one of these days...o well!
