Rep Power: 3 | Certification Has anyone here received their A+ certification? I took the test a couple of years ago and got it but I'm sure it wouldn't even be considered since when I took it, it was about DOS and Windows 95 (for the software portion). So far it has yet to help me receive a JOB although I worked with hardware for almost 2 years.
Curious to know what others think about A+ and other CompTIA certifications.

Rep Power: 3 | Never paid to take the tests to get the little pieces of paper, but I have taken many of the tests and passed them. A+ as I recall needs be retaken to update your cert every so many years. same with security+ linux+ and some of the sun java and other programing certs.

You've taken the practice tests then?

Rep Power: 3 | Which testing software did you take? The ones that came with my books dont seem very good. I've heard transcend is good though.

Rep Power: 3 | Linux is a good one to have I think. I started studying for it but then put it on the back burner for Network+ and Security+ because I'm taking classes for them. I intend on getting Linux in the near future and possibly the LPIC cert.

Rep Power: 3 | A+ is hardware and an OS. At the time I took it, it was Hardware +DOS/Windows 95. Now, it is probably Hardware/XP or perhaps 2000/XP. This certification is very easy and consists of two tests. It took me about 10 minutes per test but it was $128 per test too!

Rep Power: 0 | I got it a long time ago. 2000 or maybe 2001. Might have been 1999. Not real sure, like I said it was a long time ago. It wasn't that bad, but I was also working as a bench tech for a few years at the time. I think this was right before the adaptive style test. It was a lot easier then any Novell test, that is for sure.
