Rep Power: 4  | Don't have a pop-up stopper?
If you don't have a pop-up stopper, or if a pop-up sneaks by, there are still a few ways to stop them with one or two key strokes.
You can try the Escape Key which stops the page from loading. Another option is Alt+F4 which closes the current window. And finally, Ctrl+W closes down the current window as well. |

I use the Google Toolbar and Firefox whcih automatically blocks quite a few popups. | |

There is no need for 3rd party popup blocker programs anymore.
The Google Toolbar does a near perfect job for stopping them, and it's easy to allow wanted pop ups too. | |

Rep Power: 3 | I use the google toolbar for blocking popups and it works great. However, for adware and spyware, I use the Microsoft program which works good as well and its free.

Rep Power: 3 | Pop-Up Blockers
I personally use the pop-up blocker built into the XP Service Pack 2.
It works wonderfully, and you can turn it off for certain pop-ups you might actually want to view, and then turn it on again.
As mentioned by someone else, there is really no need for a third-party pop-blocker any longer. | |

Rep Power: 3 | You'd have to be stuck in the Stone Age to get pop-ups nowadays. Some ad programs like Tribal Fusion and FastClick can penetrate through the ad blocker and appear on your computer, though. | |

Rep Power: 0 | A pop under is a new window that opens and just goes straight down to your task bar. I have a site that I go to that has the same pop under all the time and if you close it, as soon as you go to another page or refresh the page it comes back up again. Stays there the entire time you are surfing the site. It's pretty harmless, but it can be annoying. | |

Rep Power: 3 | You can get the Adblock plugin for Firefox which will stop any ad from loading from a certain domain. Once you figure it out, it's a great little addition to Firefox. | |

It works great, better than any other 3rd party software. And its easy to allow popups too, you just click and button and magic, the pop up is allowed
