Error 500 while accessing a web page -DSL connection

I have DSL Internet connection from Airtel (India-punjab) . On homepage
http://north.touchtelindia.net there is 'my account' and form for filling zipnet id which needs id & password . I have tried filling correct id and password but it shows error 500 which means that my id and or password are wrong - but they are correct . there is no problem with any other web page and i can surf well . Engineer from Airtel could open this page on his notebook at my place , meaning thereby that there is some conflict in software on my machine . But the engineers have not been able to locate my problem . Please advice what to do !

Error 500 does not normally mean your ID or password are incorrect.

Error 500 is a server error, which makes it extremely odd that the problem would be specific to your machine.

Did the engineer from Airtel use your username and password when he tested it from your location?

What web browser are you using? Can you try it with an alternate web browser? Do you see the same results from both web browsers?

It might be that some sort of adware or spyware has taken over your web browsers.

This adware or spyware may be redirecting your web browser to another URL -- a URL that is broken.

My next recommendation would be to download, install, and execute both Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware. Don't foget to check for updates before you scan.

Something is wacky with your PC -- hopefully you won't be stuck doing a full reinstall.

Ahh... now this is a horse of a different color.

This is all about Java -- which can be very difficult to troubleshoot.

Why would Java work properly on the installers PC, but not correctly on yours?

My next troubleshooting step would be to uninstall Java (if you have it installed) and reinstall it cleanly. Instructions can be found at How do I install Java?

Java

I agree. First, I would make certain the computer is clean of all viruses, spyware, etc., then I would adjust your settings for java. This can wreak havoc on a computer. Proper settings are so important.
