Google search engine

Well i just went to google, and low and behold, theres a new thing at the bottom saying:

New! Create your own Custom Search Engine.

It seems, anyone with a google account can have a free search engine for their site, running of the google database i figure.

Kewl! That might be something neat to add to PC101 in the future.

You could just also use your own engine software there are free ones that are decent, or paid ones that are amazing.

Or you could always create your own. I created an exact replica of google one time when I was younger. Not exact, but the output looked the same and it had a simple algorithm similar to google in that it rated sites based on content and how many link-backs the site had. It had a mini-spider that would crawl all submitted links and add all links on that page to the que. You could also tell it to not go outside of your domain if you wanted an internal search engine. I wonder if I still have that code. If I do, I'll post it so others can use if they like.

I've always wondered what the Google Algorithm would look like. How did you go about making one? Google have always been so tight-lipped about their service.
