What is Avant?

I can't say that I have heard of it.

I use Firefox mainly, though often I find myself using IE because it starts up quicker than Firefox.

I just diiscovered that the reason that I have not been able to work with a critical web site for the last several weeks is because I was using Firefox.

The web site failed, but still sent a message that said it suceeded. I figured that it had to be a server error, most likely an error with my account.

Nope, it works fine in Internet Explorer.

Total lost productivity: Approximately 30 hours. ops:

Firefox is just growing fast. But most of the designers( me too) would design the scripts and other things keeping only IE in mind. Check out MSDN it is really irritating to browse on Firefox but IE does give a clean way to navigate. It happens, whenever I encounter such a problem, I immediately check out in two other browsers to make sure thats it's not my fault. May be in near future Firefox will give as much support to scripts as IE does

Ya that can happen with FF at times. EVen some big companies (Such as banks!) dont always test their site in Firefox or other browsers.
This is VERY unprofessional on their part.

Poor chaps, such bank people are. We just cant really blame them . ITs their software unit which has to make sure that the bank site is available to any user whos online. Then we need to blame the requirements specifications!! During web designing, the first principle is to test your web page on as many browsers as you can! There should more and more standards, i think these guys can make all the browsers display the same way and can compete each other against performance. That way, we end users would no longer have to suffer !

Take a simple program for example , say a factorial program...no two persons would code in a similar way though the mail goal of the program is to find factorial of a number! Sameway the browsers go! Its a lot better these days , most of the differences are being somehow managed.
anyway i rate 1.Firefox 2.Opera 3.Internet Explorer

Instructions for creating a Firefox plugin can be found at the Mozilla Developer Center.

Isn't Opera very similar to Firefox anyway?

Looks like it to me on first glance, but I have hardly used it to be honest.

I love FF but still use IE at times too.

My all time favorite thing about Firefox is tabs. But I heard there was some sort of security problem with them? I don't remember. I switched back to IE because Firefox was having trouble with one of my favorite websites. While probably the web designer's fault, I just wasn't willing to not visit that website anymore. Oh well.

Firefox is based upon the Gecko rendering engine; Opera is based upon the Presto rendering engine.

Yeah Firefox and Opera do look kind of similar, but Firefox is more like Netscape, that's correct?

Exactly, Firefox and Netscape are both from the Mozilla family of browsers.

I love Firefox. I've been using it since it was called Phoenix and Firebird. I believe that was version 0.5 and 0.6. The extensions are great. I use quite a few of them myself, like the WebDeveloper Extension. It is rare Firefox contracts a virus. The usual way a virus is contracted through Firefox is through Java.

The only browsers I have used have been IE and Firefox. Like basically everyone out there I prefer Firefox. Mostly because it seems to load faster for me and I can use tabs. I remember using IE and having like five or six windows open. It's just annoying as hell to have so many open. Tabs have really condensed everything for me and make my Internet experience much better.

The skins and plugins are great along with the tabbed browsing, but I wish there were some better skins (or 'themes') out there. Currently using Noia 2.0 Extreme.

I would choose Opera...

Why? Because its fast, secure and reliable.

The best thing is that if it suddenly shuts downs, when you restart Opera you can continue where you left off. I bet that Firefox can't do that!

I love Firefox! Tabs are awesome! Also, 1.5 is out, get it if you haven't yet.
