has anyone heard of a tristar 500?

i am a total rookie when it comes to satellites, etc...has anyone heard of a fta satellite called the ''tristar 500''?...is it any good?...what do you veterans recommend?...thanks!

You should be able to find a Tristar 500, a satellite dish, a DiSEqC switch, and a null modem cable for $439.

This will work, but is not necessarily what you might want. Fortec, Pansat, Viewsat, and Coolsat are all more popular brands and therefore have better support communities. Or, you can go all the way and pick up a Dream Multimedia TV Dreambox.

The Tristar 500 is a rebadged Sat Pro 500. even the loader for third party software has a big red Sat Pro at the top. They rebadge it and sell it for 200 more then the Sat Pro.

Who makes the Sat Pro 500? That's another brand with which I am unfamiliar.

These people have more info on the SatPro 500

People can also find the original bin file for those Tristar 500's just reload with the original bin found there and you can return box for warranty
