New Video Mod...
Here's a new toy (hack) for us to play with! It's PassiveVid which allows you to add videos to your post and do so without having to add any coding. All you have to do it paste the URL...
Code:
http://www.youtube.com ... for example...
from which video originates. This mod will translate the URL into video, like this...

YouTube - "Weird Al" Yankovic - White & Nerdy

Currently only videos from Yahoo, YouTube and Brightcove are permitted. Videos can be posted only in "Video Tutorials" and "Fun & Freaky Videos" under the Water Cooler section. And one last limitation... nothing more than PG rated videos may be posted. So, no porno, no fighting videos or the like. Please remember this is family oriented site.

Hey Lyte,

Nice feature.....but.won't the video(s) take up "band-width" on this site ?? I would think that your web-host only allows so much band-width ??

No doubt they'll take up band-width when they are played. But, I think they're (at least the tutorial section) is an important feature and one that's unique to PC101. If we end up with TOO much bandwidth being used, we can always change hosting companys.

You can add them if you enable HTML in posts anyways right? Anyways I am gad to see there is a MOD for this. I might add it t my forums. Maybe you can link me?

I think if we enable HTML it would have to be site wide and then you open yourself up to a lot of other junk on the forum. If you mean a link to this hack, you'll find it here.

I was going to use HTML. However I have found out that it is best not to allow HTML in posts etc. Yes, I did mean a link to the hack. Thanks a lot for this.

No problem!

Yeah, HTML would open too many doors for problems. Just allowing images is at times a pain!
