Rep Power: 0 | Who should I complain about DirecTV to regarding this??? I subscribed DirecTV about a year ago. I have been on an extended vacation in Australia since Feb. this year, and will not be returning to the States until at least January or Feb. of 2007. I have been emailing DirecTV requesting to discontinue all of my services with DirecTV repeatedly, and all I got was emails telling me that there are "guidelines" that needed to follow, and that a representative would call me and discuss the issues with me. I gave them my telephone number (and postal address) here in Australia, but nobody ever contacted me. Who should I complain to about this??? |

Rep Power: 6 | It has been my experience that e-mail support requests receive a lower priority than telephone calls. You will probably have to call DirecTV directly.
Their outbound call center probably can't place an International long distance call.
Of course, that call from Australia is going to cost you quite a bit!
Can you ask a friend or relative in the U.S. to place that call for you? |

Rep Power: 0 | Directv Hello Mr. Spencer,
How are you? Thanks for the email message.
I did consider of asking some friends back in California to place that telephone call for me on my behave, but unfortunately, I really don't know of anyone well enough to assist me.
From my past experience with DirecTV, they often put the customers on hold for a very long time before talking to them, and even then the customers don't usually get the answers they wanted. I don't think I can afford to make multiple long distance call from Australia to attempt to have this resolve. That is why I have to resort to use the internet emails instead.
I think DirecTV is putting me on hold because they now realize that I cannot make telephone calls very easily to contact them, and I already gave them my credit card info, they can just keep billing me until I get back to the States in Jan. or Feb of 2007.
Thank you Sir, for your understand and for your support.
Sincerely,
Henry |

Rep Power: 0 | Good luck on getting this issue resolved. Hopefully, it will be very soon. Is it just me or has the level of service has degraded dramatically for most call centers? |

Rep Power: 0 | Thanks Thanks, PCTEC and Mr. Spencer,
As of this evening on Saturday 25 Nov., I still have not heard from them yet. I have a feeling that they are just trying to milk as much money from me as possible before taking any action.
Thanks again for your support.

Rep Power: 6 | Ohhh..., good idea!
Can't you also tell the credit card company to deny charges from just this one vendor? |

How are you? Thanks for the email message.
I think Mr. Spencer has the better idea. I will definitely call the credit card company and request them to deny the charges from DirecTV. I just worry that they may still hold me liable for the charges and results a negative report in my credit files.
Thanks again,
Henry |

Thanks again,
Henry | unfortunately, they most likely wont let you deny charges from just one merchant, but rather make you continue to attempt to resolve with the merchant.
as for holding you liable, yes, they will, unless you can get directv to remove the charges themselves, which thus far, doesnt seem likely.
thirdly, no negative marks would be made on your credit card unless you refused to pay the credit card company for the charges allready made on your bills. |

Rep Power: 3 | You are right Will... Cable Co's are worse!
I'll give you an example of how bad sat companies are. My parents wanted to cancel a while back after subscribing for 6 years. They called up and was told "NO WAY, You have to give us 30 days notice".
Total BS dont ya think?

Rep Power: 0 | DirecTV Hello PCTECH,
I just emailed a threatening letter to DirecTV, telling them to either cancel all of my services and stop billing me, or else I will report them to my credit card company. I hope they will finally respond.
I have given them heck a lot more than 30 days. They are just a bunch of lawless thieves.

Rep Power: 3 | I'd call the CC company anyway and see if you can do a chargeback for the last couple of months. Tell them you cancelled service but keep getting billed. The way I understand it, chargebacks tend to wake people up fast
