AMD vs INTEL

Okay, now i have been having this fight against my friend for 2 years.. What is better AMD or Intel?

I prefer AMD because it seems to handle alot more heat than Intel. I guess its all about experience. But im not totally sure. Im a gamer with a AMD CPU (Athlon 2400+) and it games perfectly fine except for the odd lag in Lineage 2.

Intel i have had alot of bad experience with it. My first intel (250mhz) crashed for some unknown reason. My second intel my most recent crashed at 3ghz. Im not sure if it over heated because. When i opened it and replugged everything back in. The computer worked amazingly for a whopping 2 days. Then it crashed again. After getting it checked by a professional, It had overheated. Yes it had good fans, door was opened and window was opened.

So has Intel let you down in some areas? I think Intel needs to work on there cpu's cooling problems more than anything.

before the amd 64. AMD typically ran hotter than intel. but now with the 64, intel runs hotter. as far as you having the intel processors crash, it is possible that the clock on them was set to high, and you were overheating them. also it could have been many other factors, such as motherboard, memory, hard drive. i am assuming that you are running windows. and if you are then all i have to say is that it is a microsoft product, and you should expect issues like random crashes, because it is a microsoft produce. now im not trying to badmouth icrosoft, but it does seem that they have a lot of stability issues. but back to processors. in my opinion AMD has alwase been a better processor,a nd a better bang for your buck. but now that amd has the 64 the have taken a big leap ahead of intel. the leap is so big that microsoft is designing an operating system speciffically to run on it.

I did not know this. I assumed that the AMD still ran hotter than the AMD. Good bit of information to know which may help me choose an AMD next go.

no that they are starting to make programs to take advantage of the 64bit capibilities of the AMD, now it can realy start to shine. and add dual core on top oof that. amd all the way baby

I test K6 3 and Pentium 4 in all aspect AMD is better than intel.
AMD work in that heat which Intel processor can't support.

These days Intel is going to lose the competition. Amd is doing now more better processors and they are really more powerful. Intel has much more gigahertzes (ghz), but AMD is developing a processors, that really has the power, not the ghz:s. I will think, that in few years AMD will be the most big processor maker.

So is a mistake buy an Intel processor?
I will buy my new computer: processor, motherboard, ram this week and Im not sure what kind of processor I will choose: AMD or Intel.

Why I should buy AMD?

i know that AMD is not so good if use in hi temperature..

Im currently using an AMD 64 3200 (don't ask why i still haven't upgrade) and its still working fine till now.. Its still running like a beauty especially after its overclocked.. I have an AMD powered computer and an Intel powered and AMD by far is still much cooler than Intel.. Never had a problem with AMD so far and would definitely choose AMD over Intel.. Its still a person's opinion though.. Wouldn't really matter much.. Anyway, have fun with your computer

I have an AMD Phenom 9600, Overclocked to 2.7 ghz..... It's amazing, The multitasking ability is incredible. And my CPU usage never goes over 60%.

I've always been pro AMD, even though it ran hotter back in the day. Seems though they have things worked out and are doing very well. I can't imagine going for anything else!

I still use Duron 800, it's far faster than iP3 in the same clock. I overclocked my Duron, it reached 1317(!) mhz and ran smoothly. I still have this setup.

If you're gamer or just a geek who loved overclocking and the blue BIOS, AMD will be your forever love. otherwise Intel will satisfy you.
