| Intel Quad Core CPU's
Intel is working on releasing its first quad-processors.
The two chips are codenamed "Kentsfield" and "Clovertown."
Kentsfield is the quad-core desktop chip, while Clovertown is the server model.
Both of these CPU's are scheduled to ship in Q4 2006.
This first generation of quad-core CPU's will pair two dual-core Core 2 Duo chips using special packaging.
This is an interim step to true quad-core CPU's from Intel. Intel intends to be shipping quad-core CPU's whose cores are on the same silicon by 2007. |
