For most people the fastest way to lock your computer screen is by using the keyboard shortcut ... pressing the
Win and then the
L key. For others they prefer to use the mouse to lock the screen.
One more way to lock down your computer screen is to create a short cut on your desk top! This tutorial is written for Vista but it should work the same way for Windows XP.
Right-click on your desktop.. wherever you choose to create the shortcut, select
New, and then
Shortcut.
Type the following text into the shortcut text box. As you see in the above graphic.
Code:
rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
Note: If you're trying this in Windows XP the screen will look different. However, again... same text should work for XP as it does for Vista.
Lastly, enter a name for your new shortcut, and then click
Finish.
