Windows - Customize Windows XP Folder Icons. Make them more You!

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to change the icon for your folders and make them more “you”. Now, there’s a cool utility for Windows XP that will let you do so. You may customize or “skin” your built-in icons with custom icons. You may even assign a different color for each of the different folders.

Download and install the iColorFolder Skin Selector. Then, open the dialog to see a list of built-in icons to choose from. Should you opt to apply the chosen look across all regular folders automatically, you’ll have to select the option for “Use generic folder icon defined in the skin”.

The additional skin pack would have to be installed to see this particular icon.
If you want to choose a different color from the ‘Color Label’ menu just right-click a folder in the Windows Explorer.

Choosing the “Custom…” item from the Color Label menu will allow you to pick any icon you’d like for that folder. You’ll also be able to browse for icons not shown.

You’ll see that the colorized icons are obviously more interesting to look at.

With this utility, you can change default icon to just about any kind of file by using the new Change icon.

Another great thing about this utility is that it uses the built-in mechanisms to set the icons and exits. There’s no need to worry about process taking up memory.
