Windows XP - Disable XP Boot Logo

Article # 11

Written By: DR911

You can disable the Window XP boot logo (the gray screen that appears right after you start your computer), which will shave a few seconds off your booting time. To do this follow these steps:

1. Go to the 'C:\' folder and double-click on the 'boot.ini' file
2. On the 'timeout' line, change the 30 to 1 so it reads 'timeout=1'
3. On the last line, insert '/noguiboot' right after '/fastdetect'.

This line should now look something like this:
\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Home" /fastdetect /noguiboot /NoExecute=OptIn

4. Click on the 'File' menu and select 'Save'
5. Reboot your computer and the Windows XP logo should now be gone

Note: Do not change anything else in this file or your computer may not reboot correctly or may not reboot at all.

More to come soon

Faster is better! Are there any potential issues down the road should someone be minus their bootlog?? What is it good for... why's it there?

Another way which is easy is via msconfig prog. of windows.

Open Start menu->Run type msconfig & hit enter. In MSCONFIG open the BIOOT.INI tag then under that some check boxes r there. Check(tick) the checkbox meant for NOGUIBOOT & save n exit..it'll ask for restart..do it..now the boot logo won't appear.

This is easy method as u don't edit boot.ini as it ca be easily messed with & computer won't boot then...

AFAIK you could also do it using msconfig...
just cilck start>run and typr msconfig and press run...
Lots of other boot option can be changed but be careful while doing any changes coz a misseclection may land you in big trouble...
BTW nice tut dr911

Messing with your PC is an usual case while attempting things not like this but editing boot.ini with mistakes...changing bootlogo from default to your boot logo...etc so do have system restore on & take a restore point...
