Tutorial - How to Change a Screen Saver

How to Change a Screen Saver

Changing your screen saver is one of the easiest things in the world to do and a very personal element for each PC user!
  • Click the Start menu button --> Settings and then click Control Panel.

  • Double click the Display icon or on the word Display. This opens a window called Display Properties.

  • Click Screen Saver. You will see a window with choices related to your screen saver. Click the Screen Saver list box to view the screen savers that are currently installed on your computer. If you like any of these, you can select it by clicking on it. If you don't like any of the screen savers you find there you can lots of free screen savers from the Internet.

  • Not only can you choose your own screen saver but you can also adjust various aspects of the screen saver such as speed, size, color, motion, how long before it kicks on, etc. To do so, cllick Settings and adjust things each to the way you like.

  • Once you've made all the changes you want, click the Preview button to view your new screen saver. If you are not happy with it just go back and adjust it until you get it just right.

  • If you share your computer with others, you may want to password protect your settings. Once you're happy with your creation, click OK.

Be aware that screen savers require using some of your systems resources and memory to run. So, the more elaborate the screen saver the more resources it's going to use. If you're running low on resources it's a good idea to choose a simple screen saver.
