The steps you need to take are:

I can't reccomend researching your hosting company beforehand enough, I've ended up paying for webhosting from terrible, terrible companies. Just because a place is cheap, doesn't mean it's the best option!

- Do a bit of research regarding keywords so people will find your site in search engines.
- Try and get some links to your site from related sites!
