Tutorial - How to Disable Vista's ULA Prompt

How to Disable Vista's ULA Prompt

- START, then RUN, and type in GPEDIT.MSC.

- In the Group Policy Object Editor window,*under Computer Configuration, expand Windows Settings, then Security Settings, then Local Policies,*then Security Options.

- In the RIGHT pane, double-click on “User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode” and choose “Elevate without prompting” in the drop down list and then OK.

The ULA prompt should now be turned off.

Once you do this, Vista's "Security Center" will voice it's opinion about what it thinks of you turning it off. You will also see a red shield by the clock with a red "X" in it letting you know its has been turned off.

If you want to re-enable it, click the red "X" and re-enable it via the prompt or head on back into the Group Policy and re-enable the privilege.
