| Tutorial - Turn your computer on in 10 seconds! Does your computer take forever to turn on? I have found a way to decrease the wait time by doing a little trick in Windows Registry Editor! This tutorial is based for intermediate to advanced users. Windows RegEdit is a hidden tool but you can access it easily if you know how. Notice: This may not work for every computer.
I have given this tip to many people and they have always came back with a yes or no to if it improved their PC's start up speed. Generally, it can be based on your motherboard and ram. But here goes:
st: Click on the Start menu, then to the right, click on Run
nd: When you click on it, the run command will appear. In the space provided type in regedit. (Without the period)
rd: A window will appear and that window is the Registry Editor. Double click on HKEY_LOCAL_MECHINE. Notice: Do not ever edit anything from this, unless you know what you are doing
th: Once you click on HKEY_LOCAL_MECHINE, more options should appear. Click on System.
th: Once again, more options should appear once you clicked. Now click on CurrentControlSet
th: Now click on Control
th: Upon clicking that, many options will appear. Scroll down and find ContentIndex. Becareful and don't mistakenly click on ContentIndexCommon.
th: Once you have clicked on ContextIndex, look to your right. You should see more options. There should be like a "ripped" piece of paper with either "O ll" or "ab" on these options.
th: Scroll down and find Startup Delay. Click it.
th: Once you have clicked it, another window should appear. Under "Base", check decimal.
th: Now in the Value Data box, delete the default value. In most computers the vaule is 4800000.
th: Change the value to 40000. Restart your computer to see the effects.
I hope you find this tutorial interesting and helpful!
