Rep Power: 6 | If he's selling you the license then you should set up your own nick (account) on VB.com and then he just needs to tell them to transfer the license to your nick (account)
If you're just "borrowing" it then I'm sure he'll just need tell them he wants to put in on another domain name. This is because VB sells one license per domain name. Then you'll just sign into his account.

Rep Power: 1 | You can change a forums URL on the license. You do not need to buy a new licence if your changing the URL of your forums. I am not sure how, I am sure vBulletin them selves will help you.

Rep Power: 6 | I just went over to PC101's account on Vbulletin.com and all you have to do is go into the member's area, click "edit license" at the right and you can change the site to which your VB license is assigned. It's that simple. |

If your forum becomes successful there's a pretty good chance that your 'friend' will suddenly have a change of heart, and want to take it back. Good luck, but don't get too caught up in it, as you may lose it all one day and have no recourse ( since technically) it IS their forum software...
Personally I think you'd be much better off just getting your own free copy of SMF of phpBB and just using that... |

But, I think that was his original plans anyway. I'd definitely be sure to to take (and keep) regular back ups in case something happens! |

Rep Power: 2 | You might want to change the name of your admin/mod folders so that it makes it harder for hackers to tamper with your forum...

Rep Power: 2 | Hackers know exact where the standard admin folder is ( admincp/modcp) so they know exactly the address to use to hack your forum. Simply rename it and change it in the config file. It's a simple way to make their antics much harder for them

Rep Power: 2 | It's an easy way to give yourself added security Some people say they'll find it anyway, but that's not necessarily true, and even if it was, why give the hackers keys to your front door? This way it makes them work much harder to find your admin folders

Rep Power: 2 | If you can, password protect the folder(s) too, and make sure you use a different password. This will really piss them off if they try to hack your site

Rep Power: 2 | I don't like hackers because they are trouble making morons Simple as that.
I'm not a fan of anyone who goes out of their way just to cause trouble, are you? Besides, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure (or a half pound of chocolate) |

I bet even hackers hate hackers because even a hacker can be hacked. I don't understand why they do it, it's pointless.

I always thought there we're from somewhere else. Anyways I guess they could just learn something legit. That way everyones happy. Maybe they can code softwares that are for good causes.
