Book Description
The object market is divided by two major standard architectures: COM and CORBA. JavaBeans is a development environment that allows Java components to run on both architectures. This book explains developing components both with Java (CORBA) and ActiveX (COM) with JavaBeans.

From the Back Cover
Develop reusable, scaleable Internet applications for all platforms. The growth of Java and component-based architecture's such as JavaBeans and ActiveX make it possible to "glue" various software pieces together and modify them to your needs. You don't have to code every single function to create your software apps anymore! This book/CD-ROM package shows you how to build killer apps that not only run on a Web-broswer but also work as a stand-alone applications, independent of all platforms. Java Masters Reaz Hoque and Tarun Sharma bring you up to speed on the fundamentals of Java and distributed objects. They'll show you how to use JavaBeans and ActiveX, and help you determine which works better for your particular situation. You'll also learn how to link the two technologies using JavaSoft's ActiveX and JavaBeans bridge wrapper tools-and you'll even enjoy rare guidance on how to combine VRML with JavaBeans. The included CD-ROM gives you all this: Beans Developers Kit (BDK) Version 1.0, IBM's VisualAge for Java, Super Mojo, and other third-party Beans and ActiveX controls. You also get MindQ's interactive Java tutorial. You can even visit our exclusive web site for the latest updates and downloadable code. The future of Web programming has arrived, in the form of component-based architecture. Hop aboard and begin bringing rich, live, scaleable application to the Web and on the network. ABOUT THE AUTHORS: Reaz Hoque is an author, Web developer, and technology evangelist for Netscape. His previous books include Practical JavaScript Programming. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, Web Techniques, and Netscape World. Hoque is based in Stamford, Connecticut. Tarun Sharma is a developer for Knowledgebase, Inc., managing e-commerce projects and products.
