Internet programming languages other than PHP?

Hello,
I was wondering, are there any programming languages for making dynamic websites other than PHP? If so what are they and are they any good?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I am going to just improve my PHP skills. It seems that it is the best out of the other languages suggested.

PHP is probably the most common one out there, and it's probably the least complicated

Once you know what you're doing, there's not much you can't do with PHP

ASP.Net is the big rival to PHP
Personally I dont see Java as a web language, its more of a software application language.

That does appear to be correct.

Java was going to be the next hugely popular web language -- and then the Microsoft/Sun conflict just killed it in that role.

The grief required to make Java integrate properly into IE (etc...) was too much for the average web user to accept.

I would suggest Perl as a good alternative, but I'm curious as to why you are looking for an alternative to PHP?

Perl isnt a great web language. It rivals Java as an application language, although Java is better in most peoples opinions.

ASP.Net is a brilliant language, I was lucky enough to learn it in a recent course I did. I do prefer it to PHP, it incorporates classic programming techniques (if you use C#).

Im not a fan of VB.Net though, I suggest using C# if you choose to do ASP.Net.

ASP is comparable to php.

I first learned ASP and now I'm trying to figure out things in php.

They both are quite similar though.

Coldfusion? I haven't played with it much. It's just like HTML, as in the < and > goes. But it is an option.
