PHP or Java?

I was wondering which one would be the best as the things i've seen of both are identical with variables, equations, and statements. So i was wondering how the were different and which one is ultimately better to learn.

I'm not really sure whether I can pick just one, but I'd say go with PHP first.

I think that you need to learn both if you want to get far into web designing.

Learn both.

Why?

That is because you would want to go for something that the clients want.
I have been in an industry where the clients are tech savy enought to know what PHP and Java is. Hence, there are times when one clients want to go for PHP and another wants to go for Java.

So, why just take one of the opportunity? If you grow to know both of them (which is not much of an effort) then you can take both the opportunity.
